Master Axesmith, swordsmith or hammersmith???
I finally managed to craft all the weapons required for weaponsmith quest Now I'm weaponsmith with bs skill at 261 Next step is to decide whether to go for axes, swords or hammers (maces). To get master level in one of these I need to be lvl50 and bs must be at 250 so all I have to do is to lvl up to 50 as my bs is already high enough
My question is - axes, swords or maces? Storm Herald looks great
Please let me know what you think

Re: Master Axesmith, swordsmith or hammersmith???
I guess you should go for what is in high demand in the market. Check the AH for prices before you decide, although at that level all can be expensive and profitable. You have some time left before you ding 50 so, plenty of time to do reaserch.
As for me I would go for axes I like them lol, and specialy since no race in horde has sword and mace specialization, and orcs have axes
But I think a little market reaserch could be more prudent in this case!

Hehehe the problem is that top weapons are bop so I won't be able to sell them / trade them unless I'll vendor them
Here is full list of best armor/weapons crafted by each specialisation (bottom of the page):

Just a quick note: mace stun is going to be removed so maces aren't so popular after that.

To be honest if i were you, i'd wait untill WOTLK comes out.
Theres gona be lots of new weapons added, but you'll only be able to craft a select few.
Heres the list of craftable items added so far: http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?items&filter=cr=131:86;crs=1:2;crv=0:0#0+1
Also crafting Stormhearld would be a waste this close to the end of TBC. Plus arena weapons are free and equaly as good.

Re: Master Axesmith, swordsmith or hammersmith???
Hmmm so what I should do now? Just lvl it up a bit (blacksmithing itself) and wait for WotLK
EDIT: On the other hand - I can lvl up blacksmithing as for example axesmith and then change over to hammersmith. There's no q for this specializations so these can be changed anytime. Am I right

I thought there was a quest for each spcialisation, involving BRD if I'm not mistaken..... thought I read that last night somewhere.

Re: Master Axesmith, swordsmith or hammersmith???
Thanks for the link
Does it mean that I'll be able to respecc from axes to swords anytime paying 100 gold and other way round? That was my understanding - you get weaponsmith quest done and then you pick up one of the three master specialisations (axes, swords, maces) which can be later unlearned and new one can be picked up There's no q for them so only thing is this 100g I would need to pay
Now... is my blacksmithing affected by this in any way? I mean now I level my blacksmithing crafting whatever I can craft. How does it look later? Will I still lvl up my BS as per normal just with different specialisation or (for example) if I pick axes with bs at 260 and lvl it up to 300 and then re-specc to hammers will my bs stay at 300 or drop back to 260 at which I have learned last skill???
If it stays at the same lvl then it would be not that bad I guess Lvl to 375 at whatever looks better (axes, maces, swords) and then just re-specc to something new when WotLK comes out for this 100g not loosing any of my blacksmithing. Of course all receipes will be gone but lvl should stay the same Am I right?
Since the Release of The Burning Crusade you are able to learn any of the weapon sub-specializations by simply talking to any of the three masters in Everlook and asking them to teach you (though you must still have completed the weaponsmithing quest, as above). The quests however still rewards the same plans. These abilities can be unlearned for 100 and another weapon sub-specialization can be learned in their place.

Re: Master Axesmith, swordsmith or hammersmith???
Yes - You pay to drop the macesmithing and take up swordsmithing etc.
No - It doesn't effect your BS level.
No - You don't get levels represented as " macesmith " if you chose to go macesmithing. Which means you don't loose any levels if you choose a different specc. It caries on as normal, you BS levels.
* If you took macesmithing first, got to level 375 BS, dropped macesmithing, then re-learned it again. You won't automaticaly keep all your macesmithing specific plans etc. You unlearn all your macesmithing specific plans. *
* Double check this first!

Re: Master Axesmith, swordsmith or hammersmith???
Thank you very much for explanation mate I'm aware of the fact that I'll be loosing all receipes which are specific to one of these 3 specialisations but then I probably won't need them if I'll be looking for new type of weapons
This means that I can pick up maces for now and get this extra stunn in arms tree and extra stunn from storm herald (if I manage to get there before WotLK...) and then just drop it and pick new weapon specialisation after WotLK release and respecc in arms tree

Id level Bs up, but wait until WotLK until you decide tbh (:
changing spec costs about 100g at levl 70 I think

Yeah, but then 100g at lvl70 is probably 2h of daily q isn't it? Heh, besides - I might not get to 70 before WotLK I'm slow leveler but should get up to speed next week
Re: Master Axesmith, swordsmith or hammersmith???
Can't you change the specialization just once? At least in alchemy you can..

Re: Master Axesmith, swordsmith or hammersmith???
You could wait for WOTLK. But it's easy to re-specc, so you mite aswell enjoy crafting some weapons.
Only thing i'd point out is that crafting Thunder it'll cost a boat load.
It still will. Crafting these weapons won't be cheap if you buy the mats.
Looking around 600-1000 gold. I crafted LionHeart Blade, and that cost me 970 gold to make.

Hmmmm 970g... I'm nowhere near it so you were all right - leave it and wait till WotLK is out or till I get some decent amount of g in my pockets which at the end may all be at the same time
